Twitching of the Guards

Hola dear readers!

My vacation to London was the best I've had in a long time! The only other holidays that can even be compared to this one would probably be... Penang (don't underestimate the laksa stalls at Gurney Drive!) and Amsterdam! Amsterdam because it's really nice to cycle in the countryside. Korea rocks too, of course, but my favourite part of Korea is the hotel room we stay at... hahaha... did you just pop a blood vessel at that, Wai Yee? Hehe!

Oh yeah -- as I was saying, London! Many thanks to Vanessa and her family for having me & my parents there!! I had a wonderful time, and I must say, it was definitely an eye-opening experience! From going to pubs/restaurants with friends, walking the entire length of Oxford Street, running out of money on my Oyster card, visiting charity stores and realizing everything worth buying is there, falling in love with Costa coffeehouses, acting like a 2-year-old in famous British museums .... not to mention travelling home alone!

The changing of the guards! A smaller version anyway, because the real changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace wasn't on that day. Hahah... this one's even cooler, because you get to go up close! The guards in London aren't like those in Czech Republic. In Czech, everyone was the exact same height and size, but in England, there were quite a variety of shapes and sizes! Hahaha, interesting point, isn't it?

That's Big Ben in the background! Can you see it? When Denise saw this picture, she was like "who on earth takes a picture with big ben so far away and says "here's a picture with Big Ben!"?" Hahaha...

Famous red telephone booths!! Haha I am such a tourist..

This picture is so cool! Well, to me anyway, haha -- that's Hui Yee, she's a 2nd year law student at the University of Reading. And that, my friends, is the law building common room.... oooohh.. cool yeah! Hehehee..

The fantastic four! From the back: William (omg he is SO funny -- he totally cracked me and Katie up when we supposedly got "lost" somewhere between North Sheen and Chiswick) , Juan (I love that curly hair! Reminds me of Josh Groban's... Vanessa says I've got a fetish for curly hair like Josh Groban's... but I don't know what fetish means! haha), Rosie (I had a sleepover with her! Hehehe she's so friendly and cute! I feel so bad when I reminded her of her OCD on the bus, and she had to keep touching Gary on the other side if one side touched her... ah ahahha good times!), and Vanessa! Doesn't she look absolutely dashing? :D

And further evidence of how vain we really are... hehehe... Vanessa suggested I post up snapshot after snapshot of us so that it'd be a very funny sequential Exhibit A of our vanity, but blogspot.com doesn't allow me to upload that quickly, and since it's almost 6am here (I blame jetlag.haha.) I'll just give you two summarized shots!

This is what my eyes are like -- with eyeliner applied by Vanessa! Previous picture -- without eyeliner. Big difference, huh? Hahah. I'm learning the art of make-up~

My last night in London! Hahah, went shopping with Vanessa's mum & sister in the morning while Vanessa was at school; that was quite fun! And then I went shopping with Vanessa and her schoolmate, Vasant in Oxford Street. They were still in their school uniform! Their last day of school, hehe!

This is my "farewell party"! Hehe well Katie & her boyfriend, Gary, came to say a final goodbye, and that was so nice of them! That's Gary on the far left, and Katie on the far right. They're fantastic people, brought me around to the museums and all!

To all the friends I've made in London, and especially to Vanessa & her family ...

te amo, gracias!~
