Exam Week - Over!

Hey all! :)

I'm posting up another picture of Troy... due to high demand for more photos of my little hero... :)

I'm really glad the midyear exams have ended (although they didn't end on a very high note... T_T... Accounts can be such a pooper sometimes...) ... and now I'm going to write about each subject, like I always do after Common Tests! Haha! So cover the screen with your hand now, my fellow SAM-takers who don't want to be reminded of how ugly the papers were. Heh.

A picture of the "Men of H1" ... Mr Tong (our mentor) in light green. Seng Ming with the model pose, Jaya lurking behind him (hehe), Buford in baby blue, Hong Ting with the horizontal stripes, Collin behind him (remember Collin for his interesting boxers! Is it with one L or two in "Collin/Colin"?), Ho Sheng with the violin, and Mak with the cap & a very, very blur expression. Hehe, the men of H1!

Monday - Economics.
Some people think Econs is my favourite subject, or that it's a piece of cake for me, because of how incredibly lucky I was for the first common test -- but it isn't true! Econs is actually the hardest subject for me! The first topic was great, yeah, but the topics just got more complicated. Topics 4 & 5 are pretty much bummers for me. And I tend to panic & crumble under pressure -- which only makes matters worse. Like this time, I drew my 'boom period' graph wrong, because I drew the right one at first -- and then decided it looked wrong, and changed it. -_-"

Ever and I share the same Econs, Accts & Math lecturers! She's one my favourite bus buddies, hehe!

Tuesday - Mathematical Studies.
Ah... Math. After succumbing to math tuition, I'm a lot less worried about Math. However, although I'm pretty sure I didn't fail the paper -- I can't say I aced it. For example, I couldn't figure out how to find the area of the trapeziums, for one thing, and out of the whole optimisation question, I think I only answered the 'state y in terms of x' part. Bummer! :(

Wednesday - Malay.
That was the day I realized what a horrible, horrible sense of time management I have. Having spent the whole day before reading the first quarter of "Pindah" and studying the two novels, I had so much to write for Section B (Novels) and spent over an hour answering that one question! I even had to draw extra lines for every single line on the last page (I wrote a 3-page answer. OMG!)...

When I looked up and saw where the minute hand was pointing on the clock hanging in front of the classroom, I thought I was going to throw up. I had about an hour remaining, to answer half a dozen comprehension questions (and they don't ask for one-sentence answers, each answer actually should have about 4/5 sentences!) and another essay! For short, I rushed like mad and wrote in ugly handwriting. Finished with less than a couple of minutes to spare. >.<

Thursday - ESL (English as a Second Language).
Two essays to be written - one extended response (given 4 texts, synthesize the information & support your stand) entitled "Should home schooling be practised?" & a formal letter (two options - one on a little memo I didn't even understand or bother to read into, and the other on flash floods with a little blur photo provided).

For the extended response, I chose to argue against homeschooling (I found there were more points there... although I didn't really have a solid third point! eek...) & had to stupidly drag my conclusion a little longer because I left 3 pages blank in front for the ext response, and wrote my formal letter first. Then, my extended response wasn't long enough to even reach the 3rd page! Therefore, under pressure, I just dragged out the conclusion instead of drawing a line across the page. Was afraid Mrs Banu wouldn't appreciate Zorro imitations on the exam booklet. Hehe.

For the formal letter, I chose to write a letter to the editor of NST about flash floods. Got carried away and wrote a little too long. Whoopsie daisy. Should've stopped after complaining about poor drainage systems and inconsiderate citizens, but decided to round off by commending a made-up society ("Society of Concerned Citizens, or more popularly known as S.C.C., founded by Petaling Jaya resident Dr Kim Choy Tong" ... seriously, hahaha~) for immediate evacuation plans carried out, sending the rescue boat and all. Haha. I love fiction too much.

Friday - Accounting Studies.
Today. Studied so much Accounts yesterday, hoping to fare well in the SAQs. But nope. Forgot everything. Stoopid. Couldn't even finish the paper. Couldn't remember all my Accounting Conventions. Forgot how to count Gross Profit. Shite. Never mind lah. Too late, too bad, better to learn from mistakes. :(

And something scarier happened than zeros for some of my structure questions! Sara came 29 minutes late today, so she started the exam late! I wanted to turn back time for her :( ... she cried, too, I think.. but she was okay after the exam, because me & An Nie & Sara were hanging out in the library, playing on one computer & making a lot of noise (me being the central contributor! XD) ...

Funny thing happened, too. I found "The Kitchen God's Wife" by Amy Tan at the storybook-section, and texted my mummy to see if she wanted to read it -- then my mum CALLED me on my cell phone! Hahaha! In the library! Literally a boulder's throw away from the triangular-nosed librarian with the Sesame Street hairstyle at the counter!

I was trying to whisper to my mum on the phone, trying to tell her I'm in the library, but apparently I whisper louder than I talk. Then the librarian marched over and said "What's going on here?" like how the green trash-can monster in Sesame Street would say it. Hahahah! She wears so much bright-coloured eyeshadow that I can't resist laughing every time she comes and tries to scold me. I don't even remember how I reacted. I think I accidentally laughed at her eyes. Hahahahaha! Oh yeah, I remember now, I laughed & hastily opened the book and stared intently into it. So farney! Farney with a capital S for Sesame Street! XD

The librarians are really the cast from Sesame Street! Hahahaha!

Happy Holidays, everyone! =)
