back-to-school blues

World Cup Fever Must-watch match of the week: 24th June , wee hours of Friday morning (3am) -- South Korea vs. Switzerland! Despite consistently reminding myself that I'm not that much of a football fan, really, and that making it into the World Cup Finals is grand enough an achievement; I still catch myself being worried that Switzerland might, just might, be a tough cookie for Korea to crack. *gulps*

Okay, enough about football -- I'm afraid I haven't got the time to blog about the Korea tour tonight, but I'll try one day (maybe in December, after my final exams, hahaha!)... but I'll seize this prime moment to poison your thoughts with academia. Hahaha. However that's spelled. ;]

My parents got my progress report yesterday:

Math B14 ... Econs B14 ... Accts A17 ... ESL A17 ... Malay A19

American Idol

Lots of my college mates have been asking me how the college counts the preliminary TERs, so this is as far as I understand how they count it for the piece of paper they show to parents (like during this Saturday's Parent-Teacher Meeting)... but I'm just going to post it up here yeah... and please remember that this is NOT how the actual TER is calculated. This is only for the college progress reports! The real TERs will probably be much better.

E.g: TER = 14 + 14 + 17 + 17 + 19 = 81

Besides bummerific exam talk, guess who passed her driving test on Monday? Smile I am SO happy! I can't wait to go and collect my license and 'P' stickers from Uncle Chua tomorrow!

I had to miss classes on Monday because of the driving test... Perplexed Hahaha and I still managed to get to college on time for the 2-3pm Accounts lecture. Luckily Esther Phung took the driving test on the same day as I did, so we were a lot less bored than we would have been if we went alone! I was SO nervous, because most of my friends usually failed something the first time -- but I was incredibly lucky that day!

I did the road test first, sometime between 10.30am and 11am; and the test was pretty smooth sailing because there was like, no traffic at all when I was driving... all the traffic lights were green... I don't even remember stopping the car ... and the examiner was talking on his cellphone at one point & he was in such a good mood -- he even reminded me where to signal & once, even told me when to brake. Mush Christmas came early this year! Just passed with a 16/20. Heehee...

Then, after waiting for another hour or so, it was my turn to do the slope, side-parking & 3-point turn. Was a nervous wreck! You know, I was so determined to pass the test that I had practised the three things from 8am to 3pm the previous day (Sunday) at SDC (Safety Driving Centre, the place I took my lessons & was tested at). I turned brown from the sun (have to wind down window) but it was worth it! Was overwhelmed with euphoria after passing the tests!
